NavAlert Review: The NavAlert Speed Camera Alert Detection System With GPS

Posted by admin

navalertPerhaps the best investment that I have ever made was in getting the NavAlert Speed Camera Alert System for my vehicle – and myself!

At first, I was very skeptical of its claims, so after I ordered it, I took it out on a road test on some of the most well-known red light camera speed traps in my neighborhood and beyond. I was surprised to admit that I was more than impressed and satisfied with the results of this nifty, intelligent gadget.

I have to say first that I did not get the NavAlert Speed Camera Alert System to outsmart the cops and get away with speeding or running red lights – that’s just plain stupid.

No, the reason I got it was that I have too many friends and family members that have been wrongfully ticketed for running red lights and/or speeding, when they clearly were not in the review of the camera video at the police station. I bought the NavAlert Speed Camera Alert System for these three reasons:

  • To defend myself against incorrect traffic tickets from faulty speed cameras, which are hard to beat in any traffic court
  • Instinctive driving can sometimes shut off normal concentration while driving and cause bad driving habits
  • To avoid expensive speeding tickets because of careless and/or inattentive driving habits

navalert-6The NavAlert Speed Camera Alert System does not encourage you to speed or run red lights – not at all. In fact, you are alerted promptly and clearly to watch yourself when the NavAlert detects a red light/speeding traffic camera – this is its best feature – especially while driving through unfamiliar cities.

The NavAlert Speed Camera Alert System is truly an innovative product – perhaps one of the most useful inventions since the radar detector.

It stores up to 150,000 red light and speed camera locations throughout North America in the database. It can even determine which cameras are permanent, fixed speed camera locations and temporary, mobile speed traps – and it also warns you when entering a school zone or a high collision area, due to its automatic GPS location and detection capabilities.

navalert-1The NavAlert Speed Camera Alert System is extremely easy to install. All that the setup process requires is to attach the magnetic mount with the included adhesive tape to the dashboard of your car and plug it into your cigarette lighter receptacle or other 12 volt power source in your vehicle.

The NavAlert has two settings: “Safe Mode” and “Cam Mode.” Although the manual claims that the “Safe Mode” is not as sensitive, and it will not offer the maximum levels of protection when compared to its “Cam Mode,” the “Safe Mode” setting was the one I utilized in my road test – with extremely favorable results.

I drove around approximately 20 or so high traffic areas in my city, and the NavAlert Speed Camera Alert System was amazingly 100% accurate, and warned me promptly before approaching a speed trap. Although this gadget simply looks like a little black box with LEDs lights on the front, it is overloaded with neat, useful features that undoubtedly will pay for itself in the long run.

Some of the other features are:

  • It can locate school zones
  • It has a Speedometer which at times is more accurate than the one on your vehicle
  • It has a compass built in based on GPS technology
  • It has the ability to lock in most frequent traveled areas for optimum security
  • It doubles as a GPS locator for emergency services

My most favorite feature about this nifty gadget is that it can never become obsolete!

navalert2It comes with a CD with software drivers for your computer and a USB interface cable. This allows you to update the NavAlert Speed Camera Alert System whenever you need to; and, this includes downloading over 150,000+ new and existing speed camera locations, school zones, etc. – all based on GPS public data.

Basic operation of the NavAlert is fairly simple. While driving, the LED display shows your current speed. When a warning is triggered, a bell is heard, followed by an audible voice which says “camera ahead – speed limit 60,” for example.

Instead of your current speed limit, the posted speed limit in the camera zone will flash on the LED display before returning to your current speed. This typically occurs within about ½ of a mile from a camera zone, ample enough time to adjust your speed to avoid speeding tickets.

If you are still over the speed limit and 200 yards away from the camera zone, the NavAlert will issue a repetitive, continuous warning saying “Reduce Speed” until the driver decreases speed. Once the camera zone is passed, an “all clear” chime will be heard from the NavAlert unit.

t_16427The NavAlert also doubles as an effective GPS locator, as it displays current latitude and longitude settings which is extremely helpful in anemergency situation, as this information can be relayed to emergency services and you can be located easily.

The NavAlert costs about the same as most speed and red light camera traffic tickets, and pays for itself in no time. A radar detector or laser detector cannot tell you where a red light or speed camera trap is located, nor are they 100% effective in warning you in an adequate amount of time before entering a speed trap zone. The NavAlert, being based on GPS data, is 100% accurate at all times.

There are a lot of other options out there such as license plate spray and license plate covers which are decreasing in their effectiveness because traffic camera settings can be altered to compensate for these products – these options are good secondary methods to protect yourself, but are becoming illegal in many areas at a rapid pace. The NavAlert, because of its GPS location capabilities, can never be classified as illegal because it is based on a public GPS database. When GPS locators are declared illegal, then the NavAlert will be, and we all know that this will never happen due to the usefulness of such devices.

Simply put, the NavAlert is the best investment you can buy to protect yourself from costly speeding tickets and perfect for improving your careless or inattentive driving habits.
